About Us

29 years ago Van Taylor had an idea to create a jazz oriented band that could work on various public levels including education. Van Taylor assembled an array of Musicians and World Class Entertainers.

 

The first Taylor Made crew 1987 consisted of

Saxophonist: Terry Ahmed; Vocalist: Annette Batia, Vocalist: Joey Diggs Vocalist: Sandra Toussaint Vocalist Henry Wright Jr Trumpeter: Brian Freeman Drummer Greg Prieto; Keyboardist Van Taylor and Bassist Tony Blasting and Ron Walker Jr

 

Thus the journey began, 100s of thousands of miles later hundreds of school performance an countless number of performance for the troops and various festival this group emerged to set a legacy in motion.

Taylor Made Jazz dynamic approach and smooth style has made them a hit to every audience they have entertained. Their world travels have taken them to Puerto Rico, Panama, Cuba, Italy, Greece, Spain, Germany, Egypt, Israel, Turkey Jordan, France England and Various African Countries. The overwhelming response to their CDs throughout the years took them to the top of the MP3 Jazz charts in 2003.

This group won several awards, including the Diamond Accord Award presented by the International Federation of Festival Organizations F.I.D.O.F. in 1996. The group also won the top R&B Award presented by Night Life Magazine during 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001 and 1996; also the Peoples Choice Award for Jazz in 2005, 2004, and 2003. This group is also noted for their work entertaining our Troops and allies overseas through AFE Armed Forces Entertainment, MWR, USO and charities such as the United Way Canada, Childrens Hospital, UNCF, AIDS Research and United Way Buffalo.

On July 22,2003 the common council named that day Taylor Made Jazz day in the city of Buffalo.

Todays crew line up consist of vocalist: Joyce Wilson Nixon and Melissa Kate, Mr. Kenny Berry ,drummers Mike Crimes, Lemeul Bryant and Robert Garrett, Guitarist Jeff Nixon, Nelson Thomas, Bassist Richie Valentino and Jerry Sampson, Trumpeter Brian Freeman and Keyboardist Van Taylor.

Van Has always had a firm belief in supporting the community from a local scale to a worldwide vision, On April 25,2008 at the Tralf Music Hall, many of the performer through the years returned to perform, proceed  benefited the National Inner Cities Youth Opportunities NICYO and Student Against Violence Education S.A.V.E.

On March 17 2009 Van Taylor Created Concert From the Heart The group Performed with The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra to benefit the Buffalo city Mission and the Food Bank of Western New York.IN September 2010 Van Presented the A repeat of CFTH which benefited the Food bank of WNY

2011 The Group Participated in the Reach out video to support the Food Bank of WNY

2011 Taylor Made International our R&B Funk special Band Performed the George Clinton Birthday Celebration in Buffalo NY at Canalside to a crown of over 30000 people
